          Nursing Home Administrator

Duties and Responsibility: The nursing home administrator is a leader in the organization who not only directs its operations but in a large part is responsible for setting the tone of the culture. Now more than ever, true leaders are needed in this area of healthcare. The Nursing Home Administrator Program is governed by the Health and Safety Code Sections 1416 through 1416.84 and must assure that the health, safety, security, and rights of the Skilled Nursing Facility and Intermediate Care Facility residents are safeguarded by setting standards for licensing of Nursing Home Administrator, administering a training program , testing and issuing licenses, and administering an enforcement program for disciplinary action against.

Salary: $70,000-$100,000

Education:Most nursing home administrators are required to have a bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited college or university. An associate degree combined with substantial experience may be accepted by smaller facilities. All 50 states require a nursing home administrator license. Only the Board of Examiners can grant license. Requirements vary from state to state. In Minnesota, for example, candidates must have a minimum of a baccalaureate degree with required courses, a practicum and specific scores on both the state and national exams.

Reflection:  A person who works in a nursing home seems to have a very good job. I would like to work their because many people who are old need help and someone to care for them. This might be a way to give back to those elders who have ever provided for us.
