Psychiatrists are physicians who specialize in the problem
of mental illness. As physicans, they are licensed to use a wide variety of
treatment sand may write prescriptions. Psychiatrists may work for the government,
have their own private practice, or work in hospitals, clinics, or
universities. Their duties include:

Designing treatment programs

Conducting psychotherapy

Prescribing potent mental illness drugs
·
Supervising electrotherapy treatment
·
Conducting research
·
Leading a team of mental health care problems
Average Salary: $90,000-$200,000
Educational Requirements: Bachelors, Masters, Ph.D. degrees
In addition to completing the requirements for a degree in allopathic or osteopathic
medicine psychiatrists must complete an intensive three year residency in
psychiatry.
Reflection:
Being a psychiatrist sound very interesting, learning about the way that
the mind works always interests me. I had no idea that being a psychiatrist was
within the medical field but if it is I would sure take in consideration in
being a psychiatrist. It maybe a few years of studying but the salary will pay
off. I want a job that I can be able to help people and this career fits
perfectly.
