Autogenic Training
Duties and Responsibilities: is a technique that teaches your body to
respond to your verbal commands. These commands tell your body to relax and
control breathing, blood pressure, heartbeat, and body temperature. After you
learn the technique, you can use it whenever you need or want relief from
symptoms of stress, or you can practice it regularly to enjoy the benefits of
deep relaxation and prevent the effects of chronic stress. Autogenic training
consists of six standard exercises that make the body feel warm, heavy, and
relaxed.
Education: Following an initial personal assessment you will
learn AT over an eight to ten week period, in one-hourly sessions for
individuals, or longer sessions when learning in small groups. Each week you
will learn simple formulas that can be repeated silently to yourself while you
are sitting down or lying in a comfortable position. Between the sessions you
will be asked to practice the exercise two to three times each day and keep a
record of your observations. You will learn to practice 'passive focus and
concentration through observing yourself in a completely new way.
Reflection: I actually find this career very interesting. This
would be a career I wouldn't mind to have considering it’s all about relaxing
yourself in case you have a big test coming up or something important. The
steps to it don’t seem difficult in fact they grab my attention. I wasn't able
to find out what’s the salary for people who do this for a living but whenever I
find a career I’m interested in I don’t really
focus on the pay because what’s the point in having all the money you can possibly
have but not be happy with what you do. I would like to be a autogenic trainer.
